Welcome to the BES/MES Technology Professional Learning Site.
This site is the home to all technology professional learning activities for the BES/MES staff. It is my hope that this site will help teachers as they create engaging and inspiring activities for our 21st century learners at Benton and Maysville Elementary.
Teachers in the Jackson County School System have embarked on a new journey. A journey that would challenge today students with new and innovative activities. Today's students are not the traditional learners they must be equipped to meet a new and constantly changing world. Students today need to be actively engaged in learning. They must be able to inquire, think critically about the information, draw conclusions about the information they discover and then be able to share that knowledge with their peers. To accomplish these goals students need teachers that are committed to provide learning environments that provide students with all the tools to meet their needs.
To meet the needs of the students we have committed to a new age learning style. Blended learning combines classroom learning with online learning, in which students can control the time, pace, and place of their learning. The Blended classroom allows students to control their own learning but first students must learn how to communicate, collaborate and solve problems individually, in pairs, and in groups. As we begin our new adventure teachers need to keep these 5 basic tips in mind.

- Think big but start small.
- Patience is a virtue when trying something new.
- Technology isn't just for "show".
- A combination of old and new learning styles is ok.
- Students need online access.
